BKF XM4 Carbine 14.5 Inch 5.56 Rifle

The BKF XM4 Carbine 14.5″ 5.56 NATO rifle is part of B. King’s Firearms’ Retro Series, inspired by the original XM4 development program that led to the adoption of the M4 carbine. In the mid-1980s, the U.S. government tasked Colt with developing a compact carbine that shared maximum commonality with the M16A2. That program ultimately resulted in the XM4 prototype and the eventual adoption of the M4 in 1994.

This rifle features a 14.5″ chrome-lined 4150 chrome moly vanadium barrel with a 1:7 twist rate and carbine-length gas system. An extended A2 flash hider is permanently pinned and welded to bring the barrel length over 16 inches, making it a federally compliant rifle without NFA registration. The non-F-marked front sight base and A2 rear sight assembly preserve correct early-XM4 configuration.

The assembled upper and lower receivers are forged from U.S.-sourced 7075-T6 aluminum and finished in black anodizing with retro M16A2-style markings. Additional components include a nitride-finished M16 bolt carrier group with MPI/HPT testing, mil-spec fire control group, standard CQB stock and grip, and classic two-piece plastic handguards. A Rock River Arms side sling swivel mount completes the period-correct setup.

Assembled in the USA and test-fired prior to shipping, the BKF XM4 Carbine offers a historically accurate bridge between the M16A2 and the modern M4 platform.
