At Coastal Firearms, purchasing a firearm online is safe, straightforward, and fully compliant with all federal and state laws. Whether you’re a first-time buyer or a seasoned gun owner, we’re here to guide you through the entire process.

Step 1: Choose Your Firearm

Browse our extensive online catalog of handguns, rifles, shotguns, and more. Each product page includes detailed specifications and availability. Once you’ve found the right firearm, add it to your cart and proceed to checkout.

Step 2: Select an FFL Dealer

By law, all firearms purchased online must be shipped to a licensed Federal Firearms License (FFL) dealer. During checkout, you can:

  • Search for a local FFL dealer using our integrated locator, or
  • Enter the name and contact details of a preferred dealer if they’re not listed.

We’ll contact your chosen FFL to verify their license and arrange shipment.

Step 3: Complete Your Order

Finish your purchase securely through our checkout system. Please note:

  • The billing address must match your government-issued ID.
  • You must be at least 21 years old to purchase handguns and 18 for rifles or shotguns (age may vary by state).
  • We’ll email you order confirmation and tracking details once your firearm is shipped to the selected FFL.

Step 4: Complete Transfer & Background Check

When your firearm arrives at the FFL:

  1. Visit the dealer in person.
  2. Complete ATF Form 4473 and undergo a federal background check (NICS).
  3. Pay any applicable transfer or background check fees set by the FFL.
  4. Upon approval, the FFL will release the firearm to you.

Important: Only the person named on the order may complete the transfer. Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID with your current residential address.

Before You Buy:

  • Check Legality: Ensure the firearm you’re purchasing is legal in your state or locality. Some models, features, or accessories may be prohibited or restricted.
  • State & Local Laws: Certain states and municipalities require additional steps such as permits, firearm registration, or mandatory waiting periods prior to transfer.
  • Magazine Restrictions: Your location may have limits on magazine capacity (e.g., 10-round maximum). Be sure to review these before completing your order.
  • Final Sale Policy: Firearms cannot be returned after transfer. Once the background check is approved and the FFL completes the handoff, the sale is legally finalized. Please review all product details carefully before purchasing.
